The AppDynamics pricing model is based two aspects - Edition and Cores.
The principal Editions are:
In addition to this, customers can purchase add-ons such as Real User Monitoring and Cisco Secure Application.
In the age of cloud computing, core based licensing might seem somewhat antiquated. It can also become confusing as there are multiple definitions of what constitutes a 'core'. For the purposes of AppDynamics, a core is defined as "the logical thread core or processor reported by the operating system on a unique instance of a physical or virtual host machine".You can find out more in the AppDynamics documentation.
The cost of a core license varies according to which Edition you purchase. Usage limits also apply to each core. There is a maximum number of transactions that can be consumed and a maximum volume of telemetry that can be ingested.
There are separate products for monitoring Web Apps and lambdas running in Clouds such as Azure and AWS. Retention The default retention period for ingested data is 8 days. Additional retention of 30, 60, or 90 days is available as an add-on.
